Liam on The Great Trail

Goldstream Suspension Bridge Thursday morning Liam and I walked 6km roundtrip along The Great Trail from Humpback Reservoir to Niagara Main CRD Service Road. The service road is just 100 metres beyond the Goldstream Suspension Bridge.

What a great day to walk the great trail Afterward, we had lunch at Ma Miller's Pub in Goldstream Village.

We were certainly surprised to see that Humpback Road between Goldstream and Humpback Reservoir is now gated. Everyone now has to use the new Westhills/Goldstream connector whether they want to or not.

Bigs thanks to our 21 year old grandson for his patience and scintillating conversation while hiking with this octogenarian.

Liam just returned last week from seven months in Zambia, Africa. He was living in Livingstone volunteering lending his business acumen -- as a fourth- year university student at the Peter B. Gustavson School of Business at the University of Victoria -- to local goat ranchers.

After visiting Victoria Falls (9 miles from Livingstone) on no less than three occasions, he was not overwhelmed by viewing Waugh Creek Falls. ;-)

Aylard Farm to Trap Shack

The Old Man at The Shack
It turned out to be a beautiful, sunny, November day but never got above 3°C (37°F). The only thing cold was my fingers. This was my fifth time out to 'The Shack' and I've hiked the Coast Trail twice as well. I'm over 80 now so slowing down a bit.

We still did the trip out there in an hour-and-ten-minutes (1:10:00) so that's cool. This hike to the Trap Shack is 3700metres (2⅓ miles) in length. My son and grandson made it all possible by carrying all our gear.

Walked Cadboro Bay with Daypack

Wednesday morning I walked 8 km round trip over Mount Tolmie and down to Cadboro Bay and then back home. It was a most pleasant morning at 12°C. I carried a 4.5kg (10lbs) backpack.
