Walked The Grind and Mystic Vale

Once thru Mystic Vale (formerly Mystic Springs) at Hobbs Road, I turned left up the single-track to the University of Victoria's Housing Complex.
Following the Alumni Trails from here, I arrived at Finnerty Gardens where after passing thru, took our usual route via Varsity Plc. and Horner Park to home.
Just another beautiful day in paradise.
My 1:40 minute track was recorded with the ViewRanger App in my phone.

Today I cycled such a short distance it would be emabarrasing to report it; but, a beautiful ride nevertheless. Up thru UVic and along Mystic Spring cliffs to Henderson Park and return thru Finnerty Gardens. If this doesn't cover some of the most beautiful real estate on the south island then my names not Jack. My name, actually, is not Jack.
We were saddened to learn my brolaw, Vic, died August 18, 2011, here in Victoria.
Today's ramble: inspired by the fact my cycling route took me along the trail atop the westernmost cliffs of Mystic Springs.
Mystic Spring was simply "the big forest at the end of Hobbs Road," to this 14-year-old kid. It had one trail passing through it and was a pretty scary place to me. My older brother and his friends spent more time there than I. The natives would probably describe it as Hias Mesachie -- which means very bad.
Hobbs Creek rus thru the gully.I never observed the source of said spring. We were told, however, the water well situated in the yard at the corner of Hobbs at Sinclair (the owner's name escapes me) was said to be coming from said spring. If true, this would imply the springs had more than one outlet. I've seen no corroborative evidence to confirm nor deny any of the copious number of Mystic Spring legends. We lived at 2546 Killarney and the old mansion is still there.
D. Higgin's writings are unknown to me.
Ultimately, the runoff from the spring and Hobbs Creek ends up in Tate Lake (now named Mystic Pond). Tate (or Tait) was the name of the attorney who lived in the beautiful, rambling, beach-house which is there to this day. The foregoing is to the best of my recollection.
P.S. It's not commonly know salmon used to flip themselves across the beach sand to get into Tate Lake to spawn. I saw them ca.1950 and it's a spectacle not to be forgotten exemplifying the tenacity of Life.

We hit up-and-over Mt. Tolmie, exiting the park at Rattenbury, down Redwood to Cardiff and crossed into Henderson Park via Avondale. From this park we headed through Mystic Springs to Hobbs near Cadboro Bay village.
We carried on to the beach via Killarney. We left there then hit for home up thru UVic and Finnerty Gardens and down Broadmead. Quite a two-and-a-quarter hour walk.

We carried on to the beach via Penrhyn where we consumed the picnic sandwich just purchased from Peppers. We then hit for home up thru UVic and Finnerty Gardens down Broadmead. Quite a walk.
