Tom Paterson's 37th Book Launch
Sunday I drove the Benz 91km to Nanaimo, BC
Tom Paterson was hosting the launch of his 37th published book: Unknown Nanaimo
The Wellington firehall was a fitting venue as the book leans heavy in the diretion of Nanaimo's former coal mining days.
I highjacked his 37th book launch with my own 8th book launch.
After giving a copy of my book: Flogging My Blogging to Tom I gave one to Belinda Wright.
Belinda is Tom's IT person
P.S. Tom and I are friends since 2009
N.B. TWP is British Columbia's most prolific writer and publisher of this province's history.

Cycled 39km Roundtrip Nanaimo Parkway Trail
Cycling Nanaimo Parkway Trail 5-minutes
It took me over a decade but I finally made the ride 19.3km from McKeown Trailhead to Mary Ellen Dr. in Nanaimo along the Parkway Trail.
Besides my own tenacity, much of the thanks goes to my adult grandson who willingly cycled with his aging grandfather.
The younger, provided his vehicle and handled the driving and navigation along the trail.
Believe it — one needs a navigator with a keen eye to follow this paved trail.
The Nanaimo Parkway Trail intersects and crosses several road and highway intersection.
Many of these intersections are also intersected by other trail: i.e., E&N Rail Trail and Trans Canda Trail.
Confusing? You bet. But not to the keen eye of a skilled navigator!

Evo E-bikes in Nanaimo

The bike share is a partnership between the B.C. Automobile Association’s Evolve (Evo) E-Bike Share program and the City of Nanaimo.
A total of 100 e-bikes will be available in zones including downtown, the Old City Quarter, Maffeo Sutton and Bowen parks, plus commercial and residential areas. Plans call for the program to eventually include Vancouver Island University and Nanaimo Regional General Hospital
. Users can get access to the bikes through the free Evo app

Nanaimo, BC daytrip
We celebrated America's Independence Day by driving to Nanaimo, BC (68miles) and doing some trail reconnaissance.
Fielding Road has been suggested as an addition to the Regional District of Nanaimo's (RDN) non-motorized trail system and we wanted to check it out for ourselves.
We also wanted to checkout the trail connection between the E&N Trail in Nanaimo and the city's Harbourside Walkway
Report: Mission Accomplished
