Bravehearts Ride to Red Barn Market 6/20/26
Bravehearts to Red Barn 6/20/26
Bravehearts 15 Restless Riders left the Switch Bridge at 10am Saturday
Our leader, Ken had a new and interesting route for us to enjoy on our way to the Saanich Red Barn Market.
Bill had two (2) GPS Apps running but managed to screw-up both. No GPS tracks.
In spite of this, he pieced together enough info from his video recording to reconstruct a simile of the route.
The June weather delivered another day of perfect cycling weather
Bravehearts had a new (former?) member join us named Mark. We hope he sticks around.
Taking a break at the Red Barn on W. Saanich Rd is always a treat.
Other highlights were the view from Del Monte Ave, riding through Brydon Park after over a decade and riding Copley Trails again.
Bill loaned his other iZip bike out — with battery attached — to a friend just when he needed it most. His freighter's battery died four kilomtres from home.
Grant hung with Bill till he got him home; even trading off his electric bike to the old man.
A friend in need is a friend indeed. Grant wins that one hands-down. Thanks, buddy.
We hope to see the usual suspects at our Wednesday coffee meeting.

Six Restless Bravehearts Riders 6/13/26
Six Restless Bravehearts Riders 6/13/26 video
Saturday saw two groups of Bravehearts out cycling
One group from the Switch Bridge (SB) to Saanich Peninsula and the other from Chemainus to Ladysmith.
This posting is in regards to the former.
Six restless riders left the SB at 10am heading NW along the Galloping Goose Trail (GGT)
After crossing Admirals Road the group lead by Grant headed down to the Interurban Inland Trail (IIT)
This first section is also named Colquits Creek Trail (CCT)
The CCT soon becomes the Panama Flats Trail then through Layritz Park and the Horticultural Center of the Pacific.
From Interurban Rd. Xing the trail tracks beside W. Saanich Rd to Sparton Rd at Prospect Lake Road intersection
Sparton Rd makes a hard, right turn eastward to join Oldfield Rd.
Once onto Keating Cross Road the route joined Central Saanich Rd to Saanich Cross Rd. then Island View Rd to the Lochside Trail at Michelle's Farm Market.
The Bravehearts took a break at Michelle's while Bill pumped up Ted's tire.
The Lochside Trail passed through Lochside Park, McMinn Park and Outerbridge Park on its way to Blenkinsop Greenway and the Johnson Street Bridge,
Grant and Luna with Bill bailed at Blenkinsop Greenway heading in the general direction of Cadboro Bay
It was another perfect ride on a perfect day with a great group of Bravehearts riders.
Total distance cycled by this author was some 44.4km roundtrip from home.
God Willing, our next ride will be to Wednesday's Coffee Clatch at an undisclosed location (TBA)

Bravehearts 6/6/26 41km Loop to Delish Food and Bakery
Short Video music by Clint Curtis
Saturday June 6th, 10 restless, Bravehearts' riders left the Switch Bridge (SB) at 10am in a NW direction
At the 4km Marker along the Galloping Goose Trail our leader Ken took a right turn on to Camden Ave.
This lead up and along Burnside W. Rd which brought us to Little Rd intersection.
At the end of Little Rd. is a good, connector trail to Watkiss Way. This discovery is Ken's latest find of interesting trail connectors in the Greater Victoria and Southern Vancouver Island areas.
From here it was past Victoria General Hospital along Watkiss Way to the E&N Rail Trail near Atkins Station.
Inbound on the E&N (lead by Grant) to downtown Victoria then along the Victoria Seaside Cycling Route to de'lish Fine Foods & Catering, 677 Saint Patrick Street.
After a delicious break, the members went their own way to home
Grant and Bill live in the same general area of Cadboro Bay so Grant lead the way though the labyrinth of roads through The Uplands to their homes.
Their total ride distances were 34.4km from the SB and and 41+ from home
Just another great day of cycling with a great group of guys in a great city.

Bravehearts' Wednesday Coffee at Selkirk Cafe
Wednesday four Bravehearts cycled to Selkirk Cafe to check-in with what's happening
Bill arrived first then Michael, Grant and Ken in that order.
Subjects up for discussion were varied but mostly informative — which is good.
Michael and Ken knew a lot about hybrid vehicles as they each own one.
Grant knows a lot about various subjects as he has worked in international and national situations
Bill knows everything (just ask him) but he can't remember it; and what he doesn't remember he makes up.
Grant and Bill rode in from Cadboro Bay district so logged some 18km, roundtrip distances.
