Selkirk Trestle Closures

Selkirk Trestle signage quadtych The Capital Regional District (CRD) has posted signs at Selkirk Trestle.
There are no visible indications of any trestle repairs but there is equipment on site.
Some report the CRD is quick to close the Galloping Goose Trail (GGT) but slow to reopen it.
The CRD still has the GGT closed beyond Sooke Potholes Campground some eight-months (8mon.) after the Old Man fire was extinguished.
Perhaps the access to Kapoor Regional Park will remain closed permanently.
We'll let you know if the GGT beyond the 56km Marker ever reopens.

IZip to Town and Dallas Road on 31km Loop

Vital Action Cam Framegrabs (date not reset) From home at 9:15am I cycled my iZip on a 31km loop along the Lochside Trail and Galloping Goose Trail to downtown.
Then out to Clover Point along the Vancouver Street Bikeway
The Dallas Road Seawall Lanes got me past Ogden Point Cruiseship Docks to Niagara St. bike connector to downtown Victoria
Ovation of the Seas was the cruiseship docked in from Seattle heading north to Alaska.
It was pretty chilly this morning so we cut our ride short and headed for home.
Today's photo is a framegrab from a new action camera I bought for a hundred buck$. Looks pretty good actually.

Friday's Activities

I went to Hillside Mall and disconnected her phone for a saving of $600 dollars per year. A new belt and a hand clipper at Canadian Tire while I was at the mall.

Bernice and I walked is Regatta Landing to the trestle and back then we drove to Westwind Drv. at Atkins Road. There were no changes. We then drove to Montego Lane off Lakehurst and the hill has not been paved.

We're stopped in 3-Grinbos for a wonderful Mexican lunch. It was very good!
On the way home we stopped at Thrifty Quadra and Caemron went out to the car and talk to Mumma. And if that wasn't enough then I stopped Shelbourne Fairway for her limes and at the liquor store for her drink then home by 2 pm.

Walked Selkirk drove Westshore

Monday morning we walked along the Galloping Goose Trail from underground parking to the Selkirk Trestle.
A fine morning to be outdoors at a balmy 14°C.
Afterward we drove the Benz out Hwy-1 to Leigh Rd. and into the Western Community near Langford Lake.
The main attraction was some monolith built near the Kettle Creek E&N Xing at West Shore Parkway.
We then drove up Constellation Ave. and viewed the many onging house constructions.
On the way home we stopped at Princess Auto and shopped at Shelbourne Faurway Market.

Stacker-Reclaimer Being Lifted

Sidewalk Superintendents Monday was Holiday Family Day in Canader, eh?
We drove to Harbour Road and watched the massive barge-cranes start loading the smaller, stacker-reclaimer parts for shipment to Delta, BC.
No word on when the 1200 ton piece is to be loaded
Then we walked a 2km loop along the Galloping Goose Trail to the Selkirk trestle and back.
We drove home along the Oak Bay waterfront and stopped in at Willows Beach consession booth to have a smokie-in-a-bun for lunch. Twofer eight bucks.

New Blogger Interface

N.B. If you'e wondering why my blog is now so boring it's because Blogger changed the format and everyone now has to use their new interface.
Thursday afternoon we walked Selkirk from Harbour Road to restroom beside the trail.
Prior to that we had lunch at The Beagle in Cook Village with our grandson on his 22nd birthday.
A fine lad, hardworking and an adventurer.
P.S. It will NOT show Preview

Walked Selkirk Coffee & Muffin from Windsor Cafe

We walked Selkirk  from Tyee to the trestle

Fantastico wouldn't let us sit at a table to have coffee and muffin so we went to Windsor Cafe in Oak Bay.

Their tables were full so we sat across the road in the park. Very good coffee and Morning Glory muffin.

The weather is getting so warm now we didn't have the heat on today.

In fact, I setup the fan in the livingroom.

Walked Selkirk

Thursday morning we (me and her) walked Selkirk Harbour Rd to the trestle and back.

Next, Staples laminated some cycling maps out of 'Let's Go Biking'.

Thrifty Foods Quadra provided us (for $164) with some culinary delights.

Produce and meat displays are getting back to normal.

TC Motors phoned re: driver's window motor replacement.

Oil Change and Walk

Wednesday morning we walked to Selkirk Waterfront Community beside the Gorge Waterway.

While the Honda was getting an oil change we walked.

It was pretty cool down by the sea but we had good clothing on.

Back at Speedy Auto Repair there was a Mustang for sale.

On the way home we picked up some grub at Ronnie's (McDonald's)

Selkirk Walk Low Tide Oysters

Saturday we walked the Galloping Goose Trail beside Selkirk Waters and witnessed one of the lowest tides of the year at Victoria Harbour.

We also learned that many of the barnacle-covered rocks on the beach are not rocks at all but oysters. Living oysters.

When I was a kid some 75 years ago oysters and clams were prevalent on all island beaches but due to improper harvesting they grew very scarce over the years.

It appears the efforts to clean up the Gorge Water have really paid off even in unexpected ways.

Walked Selkirk shopped Tuscany

Walked Selkirk from Tyee Rd to trestle.
Windy, cold 5°C opened Grabber Handwarmers to stop fingers from freezing. How these climatekooks can keep saying the planet is warming when everyone is freezing is the true indicator of how brainwashed they are.
Shopped Thrifty Tuscany $105. Very unfriendly staff this location. Rude, actually.

Walked Selkirk to Glo Cafe

Monday 30th we walked Selkirk Trestle from Central Spur Rd to Glo Restaurant and back.

It was a cool morning with a sharp wind but we were dressed for it.

Due to the Wuhan epidemic, the Glo was closed, as are all gathering places around the world.
