As seen on Thursday walk from Estevan Village to Willows Beach

Oak Bay, B.C. – Crews from Don Mann Excavating have constructed an outfall at Willows Beach at the end of Estevan Avenue. This work is part of the District of Oak Bay’s Estevan Utilities Project, which includes the replacement of storm and water mains along Estevan Avenue from Willows.

While in the hood, I tried the fish from Willows Galley Fish & Chips in Estevan Village. Very good cod at a reasonable $9.95 price. Finest-at-Sea on Erie Street charges $16.95 for one piece of cod.

Time for another blog update.

It's Thursday, February 22 and I went for lunch yesterday with some former workmates and was able to injest half of a baron-of-beef sanny with dip. She got to eat the other half after I brought it home.

The day before I walked my two kilometre (2km) loop walk-to-market which included up Stamboul hill and thru Horner Park.

---

So. I'm coming back!

I awoke at 5:40am and Bernice was still sleeping.

Sandra arrived on time at 7am. I left for a 26km bike ride and returned at 8:50am.

Sandra and I met at the elevator as she was leaving at 9am.

---

She said all went well and she had assisted Bernice's shower.

---

Once Sandra left and I arrived home, Bernice went back to bed and slept till I wakened her at 10am for her meds.

---

I left home at 11:10am to meet Bentley at Fireside Grill at 11:30am

---

I was home by 1:10pm and Bernice was aspleep.

---

She enjoyed eating the linguine at 2:30 when she awakened

---

I left for a 26km bike ride and returned at 8:50am

---

Happy 59th b'day, Bentley my son.

Thursday I drove her Honda to Speedie Auto Repair to get some scheduled maintenance done and had my Norco on the bikerack for the 11km ride home.

This was the first time back riding my acoustic bike after cycling my pedelec over the past 14 months (1500km, BTW).

---

Man, is that a lot of exercise! Too much for this old man. Anyway, it's a pretty good ride — my ten-year-old Norco FXR Hybrid. It has over 10,000km on it by now although that's just a guess at a thousand kilomtres per year. It could very well be 15,000km as I'm sure I rode it more than this ebike at 1500km/year.

Afterward, we picked up SharBen and drove the Benz to Highland Pacific Golf Club for lunch. What a nice place. Good food at a good price with friendly and efficient staff.

Shar drove their unit to our place with Bernice and Ben and I picked up the Honda which Ben drove home.

---

What a great day . . . especially in this Time of Covid.

Monday was Holiday Family Day in Canader, eh?

We drove to Harbour Road and watched the massive barge-cranes start loading the smaller, stacker-reclaimer parts for shipment to Delta, BC.

No word on when the 1200 ton piece is to be loaded

Then we walked a 2km loop along the Galloping Goose Trail to the Selkirk trestle and back.

---

We drove home along the Oak Bay waterfront and stopped in at Willows Beach consession booth to have a smokie-in-a-bun for lunch. Twofer eight bucks.

Friday we walked Selkirk Waters along the Galloping Goose Trail.

Friday we picked up fish & chips with all the fixings from Willows Galley in Esplanade Village and had a picnic lunch at Willows Beach.

It was warm so we had the air-conditioner on in the Benz.

We bought a few things at Wally World for $115

Shopped M&M for some simple suppers

Wednesday we walked Selkirk to Cecelia Cove Park and return.

We drove from Fantastico's underground parkade to The Hot & Cold Care in Cook Village.

The food was good but service slow and not particularly to our liking. It's there for those who want it.

Friday we walked Selkirk after dropping off T4A at taxes

After walking, we drove to The Nest for lunch: toasted, ham on swiss, sausage roll, Wicked Thai soup and coffee.

Drove Brookleigh Loop then to Hillside Mall and home by 2:30p.m.

Wednesday we walked the Galloping Goose Trail beside Selkirk Waters from Harbour Road to the Trestle.

The low tide today was only 1.8m (which is not that low for this area)

We talked with Joe Perkins from CHEK TV outside Trek Bikes (beside Fantastico). He and Saanich Police were recording the speeds of various cyclists along the Harbour Road section of the Galloping Goose Trail. Joe's a nice fella. We saw his broadcast at 6p.m..

At 12:30 we had lunch (two $20 giftcards) at MexiGo in Broadmead Village and picked up a few things at Canadian Tire ($67) and Thrifty Foods.

Cameron and I cycled 52km roundtrip to Sidney-by-the-Sea Pier Bistro, had lunch -- left. Awesome!

All went well and we had a fantastic ride and great lunch of fish&chips, beer and coffee at Pier Bistro.

Momma and I have had takeout from The Pier so knew it's the best on Vancouver Island

Picked up book at Bayside Press. Erwin and Geri agreed last week to slice it for me on their big cutting machine at no charge. Mighty neighbourly of them. I gave them my Photographic Society of America (PSA) 1st Place Plaque Award we won in 1990 for the best PSA newsletter -- world wide. The Photographic Society of America is one of the largest, non-profit organization of its kind. Established in 1934, it has expanded to include members of over 80 countries. There are nearly 6000 PSA members, including both amateur and professional photographers. PSA-member clubs, councils, and PSA Chapters with an electronic or printed newsletter of one page or more, published two times a year or more, is invited to participate in the PSA Club, Council, & Chapter Newsletter Contest

Bayside press printed a paper newsletter for the Victoria Camera Club (VCC) for many years. With Bayside's first-class, up-to-date equipment and dedicated, trained professional technical staff, it was fortunate that the VCC chose them to print their monthly newsletter: Close-up.

 From there we went to Speedy Auto Repair to get the tires checked. No problems. Just checking.

Then to the Halloween costume store for a couple of hats. Just in case.

Thursday I cycled a 10km loop from home northbound to San Juan Greenway then west through Mt. Douglas Park then south on Glendenning. These are neighbourhood streets but not much vehicular traffic.

After picking up Livingstone Ave southbound, I cycled through Bow Park to Feltham and joined my outbound track at Larchwood and headed back home. Just a fifty-minute outing but better than nothing.

We picked Maureen up at her beautiful apartments overlooking Cordova Bay Golf Course and took her for lunch at Romeo's Broadmeade. Just another day in paradise.
