Ross Bay Webcam

Harry Weiler has his webcam linked to Big Wave Dave's Webcam site.
My objective was to find the location of Weiler's webcam but this did not happen.
Using some triangulation and matriculation those smarter than me can find the webcam from these images.

Selkirk Trestle Closures

There are no visible indications of any trestle repairs but there is equipment on site.
Some report the CRD is quick to close the Galloping Goose Trail (GGT) but slow to reopen it.
The CRD still has the GGT closed beyond Sooke Potholes Campground some eight-months (8mon.) after the Old Man fire was extinguished.
Perhaps the access to Kapoor Regional Park will remain closed permanently.
We'll let you know if the GGT beyond the 56km Marker ever reopens.

Remembering Jeff Laurie 1946-2025

My wife, Bernice and I had the pleasure of meeting Jeff & Michelle in 2015 when we all attended a gathering and lunch at Victoria Airport. (CYYJ). At that time VIVA members from as far afield as New Zealand, Parksville and Langley attended.
Regards, Bill
Jeff Remembered
High Flight BY JOHN GILLESPIE MAGEE JR.
Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings; Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth of sun-split clouds,--and done a hundred things You have not dreamed of--wheeled and soared and swung High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there, I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung My eager craft through footless halls of air ....
Up, up the long, delirious, burning blue I've topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace Where never lark, or even eagle flew-- And, while with silent lifting mind I've trod The high untrespassed sanctity of space, Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.

First 2025 Snowfall

Depths varied from 2" to 6" (13cm)
In previous years this was my chance to get suited up and climb over the mountain in the snow.
But not this day.
What with my wife's poor health and this aging bodie it was considerd prudent to postpone such an event.
Having said that, I stayed in and completed assembling my next book to the last page — p.304 “This is where I went and this is what I saw.”

The last page - NOT

But, having said that: I am up to page 245 of my next book
It's a lot of work. What was thought to be simply a copy&paste operation turned out to not be that simple.
It seems HTML and LibreOffice are not on speaking terms.
The text transfer works but the photo? Not so much.
So firstly the HTML has be dumped into Notepad to remove all the coding then passed back into the word processor
Then one has to go back and d/l the photos and insert them as a separate operation.
The good news is: If one spends enough time and energy the result is quite agreeable — and publishable.
