Merry Christmas Family Soiree

We enjoyed the finest Christmas Eve soiree' at the kids Oak Bay condo with ten of us attending.
Our daughter and son'n-law treat us like royalty giving each of us our own throne to be seated upon.
The grand kids and fiances engaged us in scintillating conversation as did our hosts.
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
What more can we say?
Merry Christmas and thank you for the generous gifts we received

Merry Christmas Friday I walked 4km roundtrip on our clockwise route over Mt. Tolmie.
This route took me through Horner Park and past Richard Graham's heritage home that is decorated for every annual, holiday celebration.
Few people were out-and-about on this Christmas morning so it gave one the feeling of having the world all to themselves.
Merry Christmas to all and a happy and prosperous 2021.
N.B. Talking about being prosperous: We received our BC Gov. $1000 Recovery deposit in the bank Wednesday, December 23 2020.  👍😊❄️🌟🎅

Christmas Eve Dinner 2017

Merry Christmas to All
Thank you SharBen for yet another Christmas Eve Family Gatheriing and delicious dinner.

According to my records, Bentley & Sharon have invited us for Christmas Eve dinner these past twelve (12) years (since they moved to Victoria in 2005).

It was great to have all the children -- young adults actually -- ranging from 19 to 22 years.

Liam will be off again to Europe come January 1st 2018. Bon voyage, my son (grandson actually).

His siblings will remain here making lots of money from their jobs.

It was a cool but pleasant morning with no rain.

We were invited to join CamMich and family for our evening's dining enjoyment at their beautiful, farm-side home. A good time was had by all and we were endlessly entertained by our 14-month-old, great-granddaughter.

Boxing Day Walk and Christmas Day

Friday we walked 6.5km (4sm) up The Grind, over a mountain, around a golf course, through a university, traversed Finnerty Gardens and returned home via Horner Park. All in a day's walk. Overcast (ovc) skies at a cool 5°C (41°F).
Our circuitous route takes us through the Baptist Church grounds and past Oak Bay Henderson Recreation Centre so we just had to photograph these. Just before arriving home, we pass Richard's beautifully-decorated, heritage home. We gave up trying to photograph it when the lights are on because every time we've passed here at night over the past five years the lights are not on. Just imagine: here's a man who put up so many lights he cannot afford to turn them on. Sad.
Talking about turning on . . . we enjoyed another Christmas-day dinner Thursday at the kids beautiful home overlooking Galey Farms in Victoria. Thanks kids for another wonderful family get-together and your generous (too) gifts. It certainly is the time to be merry. We are. P.S. Too bad aunt Virginia could not make it; it was kind of you to invite her.

We enjoyed another Christmas Eve dinner with the kids-on-Rudyard-street. Thank you for the delightful Christmas Eve dinner and over-the-top-seriously-generous gifting

Thursday we went for a late breakfast with friends then toured the Christmas Tree Display at the Fairmont/Empress Hotel in our hometown of Victoria, BC, Canada.

A bus-load of school kids were dumped into the temporary ice surface set up under a tent on the front lawn of the hotel. Yes, we have pictures and video to prove it.

Christmas Soiree'

Tonight we enjoyed a Christmas soiree' at Cameron and M's beautiful home adjacent to Galey's Farm.
All the grandchildren were together for the first time in a long time. Each are so busy with their work and/or school commitments it's often difficult to get them all in the same place at the same time. We enjoyed each one's company immensely.
C+M put on a sumptuous dinner for 14 of us; everything was on the table that one could desire - including Christmas-crackers.
Thank you to everyone for attending and thanks again to our hosts for such a wonderful Christmas celebration.

Christmas Day

Christmas morning we walked 4.2km (2.6miles) around the The El Camino de Santiago de Cedar Hill Golf Course (CHGC) under mostly-overcast skies. A pleasant enough day with just a hint of sunshine at a balmy 7°C. (45°F.). We counted 42 other trail users this Christmas morning.
After our walk we explored the E+N Rail Trail's proposed route where it will cross Helmken Road. Bentley told me there was a train-track-mounted, giant weed-whacker along there the other day only this weed-whacker was whacking down trees with 150mm (6") trunks along side the railway. Yes, we have pictured-to-prove-it. Sorry, no photos of the machine that did this.
SharBen and family invited us over for a Christmas Eve soiree at their beautiful Rudyard Estates home. The municipality in which they live is named View Royal, due in part, no doubt to the commanding, royal view they enjoy eastward over the Craigflower Valley at Craigflower Creek and Helmken Road. Thanks again for another great dinner, Shar, and scintillating conversation as Ben and I reflected upon the life of Christ among us. Scintillating must be an understatement! Thanks to the men and Em for joining in with us old folks (the grandparents).

Sam & Carol hosted a Christmas soiree at their beautiful home for about 20 of their friends. What a nice group of people. We know most of them and now have met the rest; it's a fun group to be a part of. Thanks for being gracious hosts and good friends.

Centennial Square Christmas LightsToday we walked 7km cw up thru Varsity/Finnerty/Henderson/Mt.Tolmie and back down to the market then home in time for lunch.
Just another beautiful, fall day in paradise; it was overcast (ovc) to start then sunny. No wind nor rain.
For our evening's dining enjoyment we joined in with Cameron's family members for a sumptuous, Chinese dinner at the Golden City Restaurant on Fisgard Street. Surrounded by his four adult children and beautiful wife, the lad has done good as he passes the half-century mark of his life on earth. Thanks to Mich for hosting such an enjoyable event and for the desserts served afterwards at their home.
As if that wasn't enough excitement for one night we crossed the street to Centennial Square (beside City Hall) to view the Christmas decorations and ride the ferris wheel; but, alas . . . the ferris wheel only operates on weekends in November. The Ferris wheel is open for November rides: Saturday, November 17, 3 - 10 pm Sunday, November 18, noon - 8 pm Friday, November 23, 5 - 10 pm Saturday, November 24, noon - 10 pm Sunday, November 25, noon - 8 pm
