Happy Thanksgiving Dinner 2023

Thanksgiving Collage Let us pray
We give thanks this day for all the blessings Our Father in Heaven (Eternity) showers down upon us daily.
Sunday, October 8, 2023 we were able once again to enjoy the day of celebration with our son and daughter-in-law in their beautiful home.
Surrounded by our host's family of four generations and their friends we enjoyed a great feast together.
Our only regret was the maternal parents were not able to attend due to Bob's recent surgery.
We also send out thoughts and prayers to those in Israel who are undergoing a terrible, terrorist attack from an evil empire.

Thankful for Everything in Life

Thanksgiving is not just about turkey To my many readers, here's an update regarding the scant postings here since we became ill.

We are both down with flu-like symptoms but are well into the recovery stage as we speak.

Doctor's appointments -- after visiting the clinic over the Thanksgiving weekend -- today and tomorrow.

If there are no further posts here . . . you'll know I didn't make it ;-)

Thanksgiving Dinner

Thanks again to C&M for another wonderful dinner with family in their beautiful home.
We were happy see so many family members could make it and especially those who drove from Chemainus,BC.
"And there was Morning, and there was Evening. They enjoyed each other's company, enjoyed the sunny, warm, autumn day, went for a walk, picked coloured leaves to adorn their table, ate a great feast with friends and family. And they called the Day, Thanksgiving. And God saw that it was good." -- Family prayer.

Today we walked 5km along the Galloping Goose Trail (GGT) from the all-new Charters Creek Salmon Interpretive Centre to beyond the 47km Marker. For those not knowledgeable enough, the 45km marker-post is south of Charters Creek Bridge (it's not a trestle) and the 47km Marker is approximately 300m southeast from Tod Creek Trestle (yes folk, it's a trestle). We walked 100m beyond Tod Trestle to our favourite bench (the only bench) with its grand view over the Sooke River Canyon out toward the sea to the northwest.

After returning home in mid-afternoon, we got ready to attend at Cameron & Michelle's Thankgiving dinner at their beautiful home overlooking Blenkinsop Farm. Fourteen family members were seated at the long table -- some from as far away as Chemainus, BC. What a wonderful celebration of the blessing showered down upon us daily. Thanks to Cameron & Michelle for a wonderful meal and family gathering.

We drove to Sooke to checkout the Sooke Slow Food Cycle. Although the promoters of this event are touting it as a success and stated they are already considering another event for next year, from our perspective the event fizzled. We saw approximately 20 riders cycling out from Sooke Harbour House and that was it. The organizers got many volunteers out to marshal vehicular traffic at roadway intersections. Volunteers were even stationed along the GGT trail at Charters Creek Bridge to direct participants down the trail to the Interpretive Centre. We did not see any cycling participants on the trail nor down at the interpretive centre.

Elida Peers was attending to any visitors to the newly opened Charters Creek Salmon Interpretive Centre. What a marvelous place! It's only been open to the public for a couple of weeks. The project has already cost over $1 million dollars; all monies from government grants and donation; some corporate donations have exceeded $50,000 dollars each. It has nice looking, well-built structures and we wish the supporters every success in the future.

Today we walked 4km in the rain up+over Mt. Tolmie to Henderson and returned down Broadmead.

This walk takes one thru two beautiful parks: the wilderness of Mt. Tolmie and the beauty of Finnerty Gardens.

After spending the morning preparing for our family Thanks Giving Dinner, we needed a break and some fresh air.

We had a total of 13 family members seated at one long table where everyone remained until they were completely fed up -- with turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, pierogies, carrots and brussel sprouts. The turkey was dressed inside with bread-dressing and also sausage meat.

Mike's pet crow

This look like my first post using the new Google loggin. It seems Google has taken over Blogspot.com but who knows (more importatnly: who cares?).

Yes, we've been walking . . . lots of walking. "The best things in life are free," and enjoying these beautiful fall days has to be one of them. The other day -- after our Cedar Hill walk -- we picnicked at Henderson before wlaking there. Some days we walk around Henderson two or even, three times! It's so beutifula nd peaceful there. Amen to that, brother.

Talking about Amen . . . we enjoyed Thanksgiving, eh? (that's the Canadian version) at SheBens and a wonderful dinner was enjoyed by us and the children. amen, again, to that, brother(s and sisters).

I posted my first video to YouTube . . . an oldy but goodie. I just bought a Dazzle to convert my old VHS tapes to digital in the cmputer so that's cool.
