Bravehearts Saturday 35km ride April 4th

Bravehearts at Nest-2
Bravehearts Thetis Relive Ride
Bravehearts Saturday ride April 4th was lead by Grant and Bruce.
Ken was ill and couldn't ride. We missed him and hope he's feeling better soon.
Ten riders left Switch Bridge at 10am and stopped at Nest-by-the-lake (Nest2) about 11:30am
In between, we passed the 10km Marker along the Galloping Goose Trail )GGT) and turned right.
This brought us northwest up Watkiss Way to Thetis Lake Park's southernmost trailhead.
Grant and Bruce led the group through this undulating, wide, gravel trail on this sunny day.
What a route! Spectacular, lakeside views; but not for the faint-of-heart cyclist. LOL
This day's ride finished after returning to Victoria via GGT and E&N trails for some
Others stayed on the GGT and dispersed as need to their homes For most the ride clocked in at some 35km and for Kenny — closer to +50km!
Thanks to all Bravehearts for participating in a shared passion for cycling.

Walked Munn Road to Scafe Hill Loop Trail Gate

Highlands Hike Log Rolling The Impossible Dream was to walk from Munn Rd. underneath the powerline to Westoby Connector.
I did it this Friday morning.
The Westoby Connector is the Scafe Hill Loop Trail in Thetis Lake Park.
While on the trail I rolled a log off to the side.
It's only 1.6km between but quite enervating due to the many hills in-between.
I'm thankful at my age I'm still able to do it. Amen.

HIked under the Powerline from Munn Road

Powerline Cyclist near Munn Rd. Sunday morning I drove 18km to Munn Road powerline access.
There were trail sections I did not cycle yesterday while here so today they were walked.
By meeting this young cyclist along the very trail being explored confirmed the fact it can be cycled.
I'll probably be content to walk it once the weather cools off then try it on the bike.
Thetis Lake Park certainly has a plethora of trails to be explored.

Hiked 4km in Thetis Lake Park to Munn Road

Sunday morning I hiked 4km roundtrip along a Thetis Lake Park Trail
Yesterday I rode my ebike here but took the wrong trail
Today I got it right and hiked the Highland Road Trail 2km through to Munn Rd near Rolla Pl.
This is the northern-most Thetis Lake Munn Rd connector — of which there are a few.
I don't know if I can cycle it due to all the steep hills but I'm willing to find out.
Maybe I can break some bones next time.
addendum During the 1½hrs on the trail I saw ten cyclists — on acoustic, mountain bikes and in varying groups — pass me along the trail. House GPS Coordinates N48°29.291', W123°27.882'

Cycled 33km Roundtrip to Thetis Lake Park Highlands

Thetis Lake Park Saturday I cycled 33km up into the highlands of Thetis Lake Park.
The plan was to cycle the Highland Road Trail up to Munn Rd. and snoop around under the powerlines
It didn't happen. After checking my GPS track back home I took the wrong trail.
The Panhandle Trailhead is on the right and Highland Trailhead is to the left. Dahh.
The good news is I get to do it all over again.

A Great day for biking. I left at 6:30am and got back home at 8:50am.

Addendum

There's a hill one kilometre in from the road that is too steep for me to get up on my electric-assist bike.

I took a pretty bad fall from my bike trying to climb the hill but nothing seems to have been broken.
One of these days I'm not going to be so lucky.

Wednesday morning I had a 6km hike in Thetis Lake Park

Thetis Lake Park Stewart Road Connector Summit Great Day! Hiked Stewart Road Trailhead to Stewart Mt. Trail and on to Powerline overlook
Stewart Mt. Rd. Trail in Thetis Lake Park
Wednesday morning I had a great 6km hike in Thetis Lake Park on Vancouver Island.
The mission was to get a GPS track of the missing link between two well used trails in the park.
That be: Stewart Mountain Road trailhead and Scafe Trail underneath the powerline at its summit.
Alltrails is the phone, App-of-choice these days so using it and online references this 2600 metre section was missing.
Much of this trail information and maps are available online but the part that piqued my interest the most was the section through the forest which is only described by a dotted line in an Alltrails map. This was not enough info for me. So I went and looked for myself. And yes, I have the video and GPS track to prove it.

Hiked 3km Out-and-back along Scafe Hill Trail

Scafe Hill Loop Trail Thetis Lake Park Powerline Wednesday morning I hiked a 3km loop along Scafe Hill Trail to its top t the powerlines.
It was a spur-of-the-moment decision which cost me resources when my cellphone died as soon as I arrived at the highest point.
The good news is the trail is still there and God willing, I can go back and complete the mission.
The Mission being recording a GPS track from Westoby Rd. parking to Stewart Mountain Road to the northwest
The Capital Regional District (CRD), and some online trail-sites have copious amounts of Thetis Lake Park GPS tracks of trails but I can't find one for this route.
It was a great November, sunny day to be outdoors at a balmy 7°C (45°F.) with no wind. What a great hike.

Cycled Westoby to Stewart Mountain Road (SMR)

Ready to Ride I drove 16km to Westoby parking and cycled 7km roundtrip along Scafe Mt. Loop Trail to Bellamy and Stewart Mt. Rd. and returned via Stewart Mountain Road back onto Bellamy and Scafe trails and onto Westoby parking.
The Alltrails App worked swell and was good for navigating the labirynth of trails to complete the loop.
iThe ebike performed well especialy with soft tyres. (that's tires to you)

Hiked Stewart Mt. Road Trail and Put DJI Mini 2 Up

Stewart Mountain Road parking & trailhead After viewing the Stewart Mountain Road Trailhead access in Alltrails' phone app I thought it prudent drive out and take a look.
Once seeing where to park from Google.streetviews I was on the trail by 8:30a.m. and walk in 700m (½mile).
Ahead of this location the trail rose what appeared to be between 200-300metre's gain.
Mountain climbing was not in this day's plan so I put the drone up instead.

Thetis Lake Walk

Thetis Lake Park recreational centre

Friday we walked for an hour in Thetis Lake Park.

We went outbound using the eastside trail to the top of the rise then came back.

No big deal but did give us a bit of cardio-exercise
